Privacy Policy

Effective date: 22 August 2026

Gorilla Facts is an independent educational website available at gorillafacts.org. This policy explains what information may be collected when you visit or interact with the site, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Information you provide

You may provide information when you submit a comment, use a contact form, subscribe to an available service, or communicate with us. Depending on the feature, this may include your name, email address, website, message, subscription choice, and any other information you choose to include. Please do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is necessary.

Information collected automatically

WordPress, our hosting and security services, analytics tools, and advertising partners may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, referring page, requested URL, timestamps, approximate region, cookie or similar identifiers, and interactions such as page views or ad events.

How information is used

  • to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site;
  • to respond to messages and administer comments;
  • to detect spam, fraud, abuse, and invalid traffic;
  • to understand aggregate readership and content performance;
  • to display, measure, and where permitted personalize advertising; and
  • to comply with legal obligations and enforce site policies.

Cookies, consent, and advertising

Cookies and similar technologies may remember preferences, support security, measure traffic, prevent fraud, and deliver or measure advertising. Some are set by Gorilla Facts or WordPress; others may be set by service providers and advertising partners.

Where required, a consent interface should allow you to accept, reject, or manage non-essential uses. You can also control cookies through your browser, although disabling necessary cookies may affect site functionality. Advertising choices may also be available through the consent interface or the relevant provider.

Service providers

We use service providers to operate the site. Their processing depends on which features are enabled and may change over time:

  • WordPress and hosting/CDN providers deliver pages, store content, maintain logs, and protect the service.
  • Jetpack / Automattic may provide security, performance, site connection, statistics, subscriptions, or related functionality. See the Jetpack Privacy Center.
  • Akismet / Automattic processes information needed to detect comment spam when comments are submitted. See Akismet and privacy.
  • Ezoic and advertising partners may use cookies and pseudonymous identifiers to deliver, personalize, limit, secure, and measure advertisements, subject to applicable consent. See Ezoic cookie information and its advertising partner disclosures.

We do not sell the contents of private contact messages. Advertising-related processing or identifier sharing may, however, be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under some privacy laws; applicable opt-out choices should be provided through the advertising consent system.

Comments and public content

Approved comments and the name you submit may be visible publicly. A hashed version of an email address may be sent to Gravatar to determine whether you use that service. Comment information may be checked by Akismet for spam. Do not publish personal information about yourself or another person in a public comment.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, security, recordkeeping, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Public comments may remain with the article unless removed. Service providers apply their own retention schedules, and server or security logs may be retained for limited periods.

Sharing and international processing

Information may be processed by hosting, security, analytics, communications, and advertising providers; professional advisers; or authorities when legally required. These providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, or withdrawal of consent, and to opt out of certain targeted advertising or data sharing. Submit a request through our Contact page. We may need to verify the request and may retain information where legally permitted or required.

Children’s privacy

The site provides general educational material and is not directed to children for the purpose of collecting personal information. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted personal information should contact us.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect the site and information, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the site, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised for material updates. Privacy questions or requests can be submitted through our Contact page.
