Gorilla Facts is an independent educational publication focused on gorillas—their biology, behavior, habitats, conservation, and the science used to understand them. Our goal is to make reliable information approachable without flattening uncertainty or turning conservation into spectacle.
What we publish

- Research reports summarize new studies, explain their methods and limits, and link readers to the original work whenever possible.
- News reports cover material developments affecting gorillas, their habitats, and conservation, with the event date distinguished from the publication date.
How our information is produced
Editors begin with a defined reader question, consult the strongest available sources, compare claims across sources, and separate direct evidence from interpretation. We prioritize peer-reviewed research, the IUCN Red List, recognized conservation bodies, government or intergovernmental sources, and institutions responsible for the work being discussed. Sources are linked in the article or listed in a source section.
Population estimates, taxonomy, conservation status, and research conclusions can change. Articles therefore display publication and update dates, and material changes are handled under our Corrections Policy.
Who is behind Gorilla Facts
Most legacy articles are published under the “Gorilla” account. This is a collective editorial byline, not the name of an individual zoologist. Gorilla Facts does not claim that every article has been reviewed by a field primatologist or conservation practitioner. When a named specialist contributes to or reviews an article, their relevant role and contribution should be disclosed on that article.

Gorilla Facts is not a zoo, research institute, wildlife authority, rescue service, or conservation charity, and it is not affiliated with an organization mentioned in an article unless that relationship is explicitly stated.
